PureHay

PureHay, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Society of Illustrator, graduated from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a Master of Multimedia Arts and Design in 2011 and from Swinburne University of Technology with a Bachelor of Multimedia in 2007. He has 14 years of experience in animation and pre-production design, including the production of 3D animation movie ” Astro Boy “. He has shared his digital painting experiences in different universities and institutions such as the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The City University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Institute of Professional Education and The Jockey Club Ti-I College, actively promoting concept design and digital painting education. His digital works were published in the three international digital painting collections of Ballistic Publishing “Expose”, “Exotique” and Infected by Art (IBA) in 2020, 2013 and 2010 respectively.

In 2022, he was awarded the Gold Award by the UK Innovation Enterprise Academy for Outstanding Artist, the Annual Illustrator Award by the Japan Illustrators Association in 2021, and the Silver and Bronze Awards by the Japan Illustrators Association JIA Illustration Award in 2020-21. He also participated in the “Asian Youth Creative Platform” in 2011, and his works were exhibited at the Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art District in Taiwan. In 2010, he won the Asia-Pacific Grand Champion of the Corel Creative Design Competition and the Grand Champion of the International Character Design Competition held by Fluid Friction in 2008.

In terms of painting style, he mainly uses Cyberpunk as visual expression, and introduces AR (augmented reality) technology into illustration works to enhance its appeal. Recently, he has adopted the theme of old Hong Kong punk to express his respect for local sentiments, and he hopes to show the local creativity and enthusiasm to everyone.
