Jeff Gilberthorpe

Jeff Gilberthorpe was a British-Australian national who gained an Honours Degree from Nottingham University in 1974.

Perth, Australia was the first port of call in 1981 to the young immigrant and his family. After crossing the vast Nullabor in a VW Combi Van, he eventually became artist-in-residence at Jabiru Art Gallery on the Gold Coast, Queensland. While working on other projects, Jeff developed an art adventure called “The Icon Collection”. Exploring on massive canvasses the journeys of the world’s famous icons being lifted by hot air balloons and carried across the globe, was the culmination of Jeff’s artistic endeavours and dreams.

In partnership with CreaTechArt Holdings Pty Ltd, 3galleries across Queensland exclusively displayed the art of Jeff Gilberthorpe. The Icon Collection also found its way to Hong Kong, France, the UK and other parts of Europe. CreaTechArt received several export grants from Austrade, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, which realized the value and global potential of Jeff’s art.
