Framing is an art in itself, with virtually unlimited artwork framing options out there. After many years in the business, we have come to realize that in most cases the simpler the frame, the more the artwork stands out. For our online art gallery we have determined that it is most practical to offer collectors the following options:
- Unframed (print only)
This is our default option, which gives the buyer the opportunity to frame the artwork locally, using a trustworthy frame shop that is familiar with their framing needs and can match the frame style of other artwork collectors may already have in their home or venue. Framing shops generally offer many framing options, as they carry a wider variety of framing profiles. In addition, as many of our buyers are expatriates, an unframed print is easier to travel with or ship internationally, in case the final destination of the artwork is outside of Hong Kong. Finally, buyers could also use a ready-made frame that they have purchased from elsewhere, or have built themselves.
- Box Frame (black or white)
For those who appreciate elegant simplicity, and would like to receive their limited edition fine art print in a “ready-to-hang” condition (perhaps because it’s a gift, or simply have no time to deal with frame shops) we offer a simple and stylish wooden box frame (also known as “shadow”), in either black or white color. These frames are custom built using the highest quality materials, without a mat, and are sealed to preserve the print, and protect it from heat, moisture, and airborne pollutants.
- Custom framing from Hong Kong Imaging
This last option is not listed on the product pages at checkout, however, it is still an available option for customers. Simply choose “Unframed (print-only)” checkout, and then review the framing options at Hong Kong Imaging and inquire for a quote. There are four main framing styles available – traditional, box, box with mat, and box with float. Each of those can be black, white, and occasionally various shades of brown (wood) color. If none of these options is suitable for your case, that you can take the print to a local frame shop for more options.
